Introduction

I hate you, Google.

I was told that I needed to have my gallbladder removed, and I googled it. I knew it was a mistake but I couldn't stop.

My searched ranged from "Help! I'm having my gallbladder out!" to "Real lap choly scar photos." Neither of which were very successful, by the way. It was frustrating.

All you find are panic-stricken people who are between 2 weeks to 6 months out of their gallbladder removal surgery, who think everything they are going through is due the surgery. It was a bleak picture, and it scared me.

I decided to present a day-to-day-ish account of what my experiene was like, from start to finish, so that people who google "gallbladder removal" or "oh god help I'm terrified about my gallbladder surgery!!!" might stumble across some helpful, valid information that will adequately prepare them for what the experience might actually be like.

I plan to make this in-depth, including photos. I didn't take photos of my scars right after my surgery, but I will be able to show some healed scar photos. I plan to address the strange rumors and odd byproducts of the surgery. I may need a nudge to remember to keep posting - I'm a little flaky. Leave comments that nudge me, if you feel like it. I know what it's like to panic about these things, and prompt help is so important. I hope I am quick in helping.

And if you have any questions that I haven't answered, please feel free to ask. I'm not an expert, but I am a medicine geek and love to learn whatever I can get my hands on. I will offer whatever information I have. My e-mail address is msfrapples [at] hotmail.com.

I hope someone finds this a helpful resource. Good luck. :)
